What’s going on at the One Station Hill project in Reading?

Two were injured after scaffolding collapsed in 2019 while two were pulled from safety by a crane after the building went up in flames for the second time in five months last week.

It was a miracle no one died – and down to the quick actions of a handful of people not least crane driver Glen Edwards, 54, who managed to keep calm and pull one man to safety.

But what on earth is going on at this building site? Residents will rightly be concerned about safety of those working there as well as those who live and work nearby.

The Chronicle welcomes the news that the Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation but feels the developer must be held accountable and as a start, should answer the 11 questions this newspaper has put to them on behalf of the public.
